Beyond Hatred – Empathy to Offender

The next step in growing beyond hatred is to empathize with the emotional struggles which may be at work within the offender. It is unusual if an offender does not have some emotional motivation for their painful attack.

We may be familiar with the admonition to walk a mile in another’s shoes before judging their actions. But are we familiar that the Bible text, “rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep” is urging that same process for those who have “persecuted” us?
