Yours Is…
The ending phrase of Matthew’s model prayer is reduced to a footnote in more recent translations. The simple explanation is that it lacks appearance in the older Greeek MSS. Even so it provides a powerful summary of the prayer by recounting Gods’ kingdom, power, and glory.
And I find it extremely interesting that often times we are more intimately introduced to those elements of God (kingdom, power, and glory) in extraordinary ways within some of life’s unusual footnotes. It’s often the asterisks of life – those unplanned situations, the unexpected circumstances, or unscripted moments of spiritual trial which become the greater invitation to connect with God’s kingdom, power and glory.
So, there is great learning to be gained from this footnote text. Vital lessons for the surprising footnote moments found on the lines, pages, and chapters in our life book.
