The Joy of Contentment

Do you think most Americans are satisfied and content?  How about somewhat satisfied and content?  Or perhaps you would use the terms unsatisfied and discontent as an appropriate description.

This lesson begins by explaining how discontent plays a major role in today’s society.  Most people today have a large list not of desires and wants but of “needs.”  Needs are dealt with differently.  People tend to think there needs MUST be met in order to have a satisfied life.  Fulfilling needs also tends to focus on what someone else must do for or to me.  Thus, needs feed an attitude of entitlement and demand.   It is very dangerous when the view of a desire mutates into the demands of need.

The apostle Paul outlines in Philippians four the process by which he gained contentment.  In this lesson we will look at three keys he utilized in that quest.
