A Life Worth Duplicating
Paul has delivered the Philippians a command – instructing them to do all things without grumbling and an attitude of argumentation. Knowing the difficulty of this imperative, he then outlines some motivational reasons for giving it full attention and diligence:
- It needs to be accomplished first because God has commanded it.
- Obedience to it indicates that one is a blameless and pure child of God.
- Being complaint-free illuminates the message of God’s truth to a distorted world as light shines in darkness.
- Living above this negativity also is a means of honoring one’s spiritual leader.
In this lesson we briefly identify yet one more reason to obey the command to not grumble and then we look at a life of one worth imitating – Timothy. One who not only lived above the shackles of complaint but excelled in characteristics of relationship and spirituality.
